Chapter 1
I don't remember what happened. All I can recall is waking up
on the floor of my apartment's living room with a massive headache. I got up
and went to the bathroom to take some aspirin. When I looked in the mirror I
noticed that I had a little cut on my forehead and that it had bled a little.
So I cleaned it and put a band aid on it. After I finished putting the band aid
on I heard a cell phone ringing in the living room.
I go into the living room and notice a cell phone on the coffee
table that I have never seen before. I wasn't sure if I should pick it up or
not. As I was contemplating this the phone stopped ringing. Thinking it was
nothing I started to walk away. Then it started ringing again. This time I
picked up.
“Hello?” I said.
“Bout time you picked up. I knew you should be awake by now,” the
person calling said.
“I'm sorry. Who is this? How do you know me?” I said starting to
get scared.
“Yo relax. I'm here to help Ms. Jinxx. You can call me Cerberus,”
He said.
“Okay, Cerberus.
How do you know my name and why are you calling me?” I asked.
“There will be time for questions later. The first thing is that
you have to get out of there and fast,” He said with a sense of urgency.
“Why do I need to get out of here? I live here,” I said starting
to think it was either a really bad prank or he was some serial killing rapist
or something.
“Something is coming and you need to get out of there before it
gets you,” he said. “I'm parked down the street in a white sports car.”
“Why should I believe anything you say?” I said suspiciously.
“You just have to trust me?” Cerberus says.
“'Then tell me what is coming to get me,” I said starting to
panic. “Should I pack anything before I run out of here.”
“No, just grab this phone and get out of there,” Cerberus said in
a hurried voice.
“Okay, okay. I”m leaving now,” I told him and started heading for
the front door and hung up the phone.
As I was looking up from hitting the end button and froze. The
front door was wide open. I wonder how long it had been like that?
Then I heard footsteps. They were loud and heavy. So heavy that
they were shaking the walls and the floorboards underneath my feet. I was
wonder how come with how loud it was no one on my floor was coming out to
investigate?
Panicking. I ran and hid behind my couch. I heard the footsteps
get closer and now I could hear heavy breathing behind the footsteps. Like
every step took a lot of energy to lift up each foot. Then they stopped and I
could hear the breathing in the doorway to my apartment. I couldn't look; I was
way too scared. I heard whatever it was start entering the apartment one heavy
footstep at a time. I heard it go to the left and down the hallway toward the
bathroom and my bedroom.
I decided that I should get the hell out of there. Phone in
hand I sprinted out the door and down the hallway. I forgo the elevator and
push open the door to the stairway. I was about halfway down the stairs when I
heard the door to my floor slam against the wall with a lot of force behind it.
Looking up I saw a huge black figure starting to go down the stairs at a very
fast pace. Heart pounding in my chest; I started going back down the stairs as
quickly as I could.
I reach the ground floor in the stairway, I rush to the door,
and push on the bar. The door doesn't budge. I push on the bar again. Nothing.
Panicking now I start really pushing on bar harder. It still wouldn't budge. I
start hearing the thing coming down the stairs faster now and go into full
panic mode. I stand back and start kicking at the bar on the door.
After about four kicks the door finally opens. I dash out the
door into the lobby and out the open to the sidewalk outside. I looked up and
down the street looking for the car. I spot a white sports car parked six cars
down and across the street. I then heard the thing crashing through the door
from the stairway and running across the lobby. I sprinted across the street
and up to the car. I hear the doors unlock and I grab the handle to the
passenger side door. I open the door and get into the car.
“Was wondering what was taking you so long,” Cerberus says with a
a frown on his face.
“Shut up and go go go,” I said out of breath and looking back to
see the huge black figure bounding down the street towards us.
“Shit,” Cerberus says and shifts the car into gear. He pulls out
and the creature slams into the back passenger side panel if the car.
Cerberus floors the gas and we speed away into the night of the
city. I sigh with relief and then my eye lids feel heavy for some reason. I fall
asleep.
